Jack Antonoff’s kind gesture to ex wife Margaret Qualley revealed

Jack Antonoff seemingly proved that things are amicable between himself and his estranged wife Margaret Qualley as he lent the actress a helping hand on Thursday – just two weeks after their shock separation.

The music producer, 42, was spotted walking 31-year-old Qualley’s beloved dog Smokey alongside a male friend in New York City.

Antonoff is extremely fond of Qualley’s grey pooch, whom she adopted in 2022, and even featured the dog in Bleachers’ music video for You and Forever earlier this year.

For his walk with Smokey, the Taylor Swift collaborator sported a navy-blue ‘Schaap Moving Systems’ T-shirt and blue jeans while clutching a to-go cup from a nearby coffee shop.

Meanwhile, Qualley was hard at work on Thursday on the nearby set of Paramount Pictures’ highly anticipated Possession film reboot.

Seemingly getting into character, Qualley, clad in a purple dress, was seen listening to music in between takes.

Ironically, Qualley is portraying two emotionally exhausting dual roles – Anna and Helen – one of whom exhibits increasingly disturbing behavior amid her divorce in the psychological horror film.

The Montana-born, North Carolina-raised beauty should easily be equipped for the demanding part considering her transformative, prosthetics-heavy turn as Sue and Monstro Elisasue in Coralie Fargeat’s 2024 body horror film, The Substance.

Callum Turner and Paul Dano also star in Possession directed by Parker Finn, who previously helmed the Smile slasher franchise, and produced by Robert Pattinson.

Andrzej Żuławski’s 1981 Berlin-set version of Possession – starring Isabelle Adjani – involved overwrought emotion, a tentacled creature and two doppelgängers.

‘When I met Margaret at a dinner a few years ago, she told me that she looked more like me than her mother,’ the 71-year-old Frenchwoman told Numéro in May.

‘So it would seem this family resemblance determined the director’s choice for this character in Possession. Also, she is incredibly talented!’

The cult classic has renewed significance following the tragic death of Adjani’s co-star Sam Neill who died, aged 78, on July 13 from pneumonia following a three-year battle with stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.

Antonoff’s charitable dog walk comes on the same day that sources claimed to Page Six that he and Qualley have no plans to reconcile’ and ‘are done for good’ but ‘they are still communicating and being respectful of one another.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to the former couple’s representatives, but did not immediately hear back.

Antonoff raised eyebrows when he showed up to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s July 3 wedding festivities with his sister Rachel as his date – rather than Qualley.

The pair might have still been together on March 31 when she shared an Instagram story wishing him a happy birthday.

Qualley changed her Instagram handle back to her legal name Sarah Margaret Qualley instead of a reference to his music, and she deleted pH๏τos she shared in March from their wedding at Beach Haven in his native New Jersey.

Before they began dating in the summer of 2021, Antonoff reportedly dated the likes of pH๏τographer Carlotta Kohl, Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham and two-time Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson.

The Blue Moon actress was previously romantically linked to her Death Note co-star Nat Wolff, SNL alum Pete Davidson and her Love Me Like You Hate Me leading man Shia LaBeouf.

Audiences can next catch Qualley as the medic Cima in Ridley Scott’s $110 million-budget sci-fi flick The Dog Stars – hitting US/UK theaters August 28 – alongside Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin and Allison Janney.

The two-time Actor Award nominee’s other upcoming films include Amazon’s romantic drama Love of Your Life and Neon’s Southern supernatural horror King Snake.
