Anguished nurse’s wails in agony as murder trial hears 911 audio

The Mᴀssachusetts mother who killed her three young children wailed in agony as the 911 call her husband made after the murders was played in court. 

Lindsay Clancy hyperventilated and covered her face as she broke down in tears during the second day of ‘America’s saddest murder trial’ on Wednesday. 

The call itself was silenced from live feeds on the orders of a judge, but everyone in the courtroom heard it. 

Patrick, Clancy’s now ex-husband, called 911 and reported that his wife tried to commit suicide. He talked in a panicked voice, speaking over the dispatcher while telling Lindsay to stay awake.

Patrick told Clancy ‘open your eyes,’ as her sobs were heard in the background of the call.

When the first responders arrived, Patrick then entered the house.

He was heard wailing and screaming as he discovered the children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan, in the basement.

‘She killed the kids,’ Patrick said. 

At least two members of the jury began crying as the call was played, and Clancy’s parents, Paula and Mike Musgrove, kept their heads down.

A recess was called after it played as Clancy sobbed uncontrollably and was wheeled out of the room. 

Just before the phone call was played, prosecutors showed the court the clothes the children were wearing when they were killed at the family’s Duxbury home in January 2023.

The court also saw the three exercise bands used in the tragic killings, and as they were shown, Clancy тιԍнтly gripped her lawyer, Kevin Reddington’s, hand. 

Although Clancy does not deny killing her children, she has pleaded not guilty and claimed she is not responsible for her actions because she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Her ex-husband, Patrick, returned to the stand on Wednesday and became overwhelmed as he detailed the night of the tragedy.

Patrick fought to keep the 911 audio and autopsy pictures of the children out of the public eye, with a judge agreeing to only have those pieces of evidence shown in the courtroom. 

He was excused from the courtroom as the prosecution displayed the clothing his children were wearing when they were killed. 

Cora wore a matching pajama set with a pink robe. Dawson was wearing dinosaur underwear and a grey long-sleeved shirt, and Callan wore a printed red one-piece.

The prosecution also displayed the exercise bands found on the children. A yellow band was around Dawson, a black band around Cora, and a blue band around Callan.

‘I saw Cora. She had a band around her neck. She was face down,’ he said.

Patrick previously described the bands as if you ‘tied your shoes but don’t tie the bow.’

‘I immediately ran over and tried to take the band off,’ Patrick continued.

He said she was unresponsive, and Callan was next to her with a band around his neck.

Patrick then said he found Dawson and said he ‘knew he was gone.’

He also recalled running around outside after he discovered a horrific scene in the bedroom. Blood was ‘sprayed’ across the room from his ex-wife’s self-inflicted knife injuries, Patrick told the court.

‘I ran downstairs and went outside. I just looked around outside below that window, and I found Lindsay. She was face up in the backyard.

Patrick said he went to his wife and saw she had deep cuts on her wrist and a red line across her neck.

‘I wasn’t sure what it was at first,’ he said.

Patrick said he asked Lindsay what happened and she told him she tried to kill herself.

He asked her where the kids were, and she told him they were in the basement.
